Advanced brewing process
Free Damm is brewed with the same ingredients and process used to make its alcoholic counterpart since 1876. Yeast is added and fermentation produces alcohol in the natural way. Then, thanks to an advanced technique called ‘vacuum distillation’, the percentage of alcohol is brought down to 0.0% – without changing the taste in any way.

Over 140 years ago, young master brewer August Kuentzmann Damm left Alsace with his wife Melanie to escape the Franco-Prussian War. Finally, their journey took them to the Mediterranean.
Then in 1876 they set up a brewery in Barcelona and created a lager beer adapted to the Mediterranean climate. In particular, it was lighter than the central European beers brewed for cold climates.
Since then, Estrella Damm has been brewed using the original recipe from 1876, the result of a combination of barley, malt, rice, and hops.
Significantly, Free Damn Lager 0.0% is made using the same strain of yeast used by the brewery for generations.
Indeed, this preserves the taste of Estrella and that’s why they have three reserves of yeast stored under the highest security in Barcelona, Valencia and London.
