Founded in 2017 by Bill Shufelt and John Walker, Athletic Brewing Company was born out of a simple yet powerful vision: to create great-tasting, alcohol-free craft beer without compromise. Shufelt, a former finance professional, saw a gap in the market for high-quality non-alcoholic beer, while Walker, an award-winning brewer, had the technical expertise to make it happen.
Determined to challenge the outdated reputation of alcohol-free beer, the duo spent years perfecting their brewing process, developing an innovative method that allows for full fermentation while keeping the ABV below 0.5%. This breakthrough ensures that their beers retain the complexity, aroma, and body of traditional craft brews, setting Athletic Brewing apart from the competition.
Since launching, Athletic Brewing has become a trailblazer in the alcohol-free beer movement, earning accolades including:
