About Chouffe

The story begins in the late 1970s, in the middle of the Vallée des Fées (the Valley of the Fairies), when two brothers-in-law, Pierre Gobron and Chris Bauweraerts decided to create their own beer in the garage belonging to Chris' mother-in-law. With the little money they had at the time, they began what the brewery's fans now call the "Chouffe Story". As the brewery grew, so did its family of gnomes. Marcel (La Chouffe) and Malcolm (Mc Chouffe) found themselves joined by new companions including Matthew (Houblon Chouffe) and now Micheline (Cherry Chouffe)! Each gnome represents one of the beers in the range, and each has their own story and characteristics.

Large orders (20 cases of 12 or more bottles/cans) are not guaranteed for next-day delivery but will be delivered within 3 working days from the date of ordering.

The best alcohol free Belgian to date
I used to drink alcohol, and lots of it, in particular Belgian beer. I never thought they'd manage to make a decent tasting alcohol-free Belgian (plus I never thought they would allow it!), however this Chouffe is fantastic. It certainly tastes Belgian, and still has the nice maltiness to it with a fantastic finish, especially when not too cold (just like any normal Belgian beer). This certainly rates up at the top end of my list for alcohol free beer and it will be interesting to see if any more are released (Imagine if Tripel Karmeliet was released as alcohol free!)

This beer was a revelation!
This was a revelation, I did not think a Belgian style beer could be as good at 0.4% as the high alcohol% I used to drink 'back in the day'. Boy, was I wrong. This was a great drinking experience and DryDrinker.com made it easy to order and get delivered to me. Perfect, perfect, perfect!!!

This is not proper Chouffe of course…
This is not proper Chouffe of course but it's eminently drinkable and if you are driving....

Some disappointment
Having tasted the 'real thing' in the past I was absolutely delighted when I saw that the brewery had brought out a low alcohol La Chouffe. However, I was disappointed with it in comparison. In fact the four stars given in the review was more for your excellent service than for the product itself.
