Tasting notes

Jump Ship Flying Colours Pale Ale Tasting Notes:

Appearance: Pours a clear, vibrant golden colour with a frothy white head, showcasing the lively carbonation and inviting visual appeal of a well-crafted pale ale.

Aroma: The nose is greeted with a refreshing burst of citrus and floral hops, followed by subtle hints of pine and a touch of grassiness, indicating the complexity and depth of the hop profile.

Taste: On the palate, Jump Ship Flying Colours delivers a harmonious blend of hoppy bitterness and citrus zest. Notes of grapefruit, lemon peel, and a slight tropical fruitiness emerge, balanced by a mild malt sweetness that adds body without overpowering the hop character.

Mouthfeel: Light to medium-bodied with a crisp, clean texture. The carbonation is perfectly balanced, enhancing the beer's refreshment factor and making it incredibly drinkable.

Finish: Concludes with a satisfyingly dry and clean finish, leaving a lingering hoppy aftertaste that invites further exploration. The balance between the hops and malts is meticulously maintained, ensuring a flavourful yet approachable beer experience.

Jump Ship Flying Colours Pale Ale is a standout non-alcoholic IPA that doesn't compromise on flavor or complexity, making it an excellent choice for beer enthusiasts and casual drinkers alike.

Food Pairings

Jump Ship Flying Colours Pale Ale Food Pairings:

  1. Grilled Meats: The bold flavours of the Jackstaff IPA stand up well to grilled meats. Think barbecued chicken or a juicy steak, where the caramelisation from the grill would complement the beer's hoppy bitterness.

  2. Spicy Foods: IPAs are known to work well with spicy foods. The beer's citrus and pine notes can help balance the heat of dishes like spicy chicken wings, curries, or even a bowl of spicy chilli.

  3. Fish and Seafood: The citrusy notes of the IPA can complement lighter seafood dishes. Try it with grilled fish, shrimp tacos, or a classic fish and chips.

  4. Pizza and Burgers: The robust flavours of the IPA can stand up to hearty dishes like a classic pepperoni pizza or a loaded burger. The beer can help to cut through the richness of the food, balancing it out.

  5. Cheese: IPAs can pair beautifully with a variety of cheeses. The bitterness of the beer can balance out the creaminess of the cheese. Try it with sharp cheddar, blue cheese, or gouda.

  6. Desserts: Yes, you read that right! The citrus and peach notes of the Jackstaff IPA could make it a surprisingly good pairing with fruit-based desserts, such as a peach cobbler or a citrus tart.

Serving Suggestions

Jump Ship Flying Colours Pale Ale Serving Suggestions:

  1. Proper Glassware: Serve your Jackstaff IPA in a beer glass that's designed to enhance the IPA experience. A tulip or snifter glass can concentrate the hop aromas and maintain a nice head. Alternatively, a classic pint glass or mug is always a good choice for a casual setting.

  2. Ideal Temperature: While it's common to serve beer ice cold, IPAs often benefit from being served at a slightly warmer temperature. Aim for a serving temperature of around 7-10 degrees Celsius. This can help to unlock the full spectrum of flavours and aromas in the beer.

  3. Pouring Technique: Pour the beer at an angle until you've filled about half of your glass, then straighten the glass and continue pouring in the middle to create a nice, frothy head. This can help release the beer's aromatic compounds and enhance your overall drinking experience.

  4. Pair with Food: As mentioned earlier, pairing your beer with the right food can greatly enhance your tasting experience. Whether it's a spicy dish, a hearty burger, or even a fruity dessert, finding the right food pairing can make your Jackstaff IPA even more enjoyable.

  5. Drink Fresh: While some beers can benefit from aging, IPAs are generally best enjoyed fresh. This is because the hop flavours and aromas can fade over time. So, once you've got your hands on a can of Jackstaff IPA, don't wait too long to enjoy it!

  6. Respect the Head: A good head is crucial for the sensory experience of a beer, as it helps to release the beer's aromas. When serving the Jackstaff IPA, aim for about 2cm of head on the beer.
