Versin Red is an alcohol free red vermouth alternative produced in Spain and designed for mixing or serving as an aperitif. It is made to echo the sweet, bittersweet style of classic red vermouth, with a fuller profile built around grape must and botanicals. Pours deep ruby red.
Aroma: dark fruit, gentle spice, herbal bitters, grape must.
Palate: sweet red fruit and grape must up front, followed by botanical bitterness and a lightly spiced vermouth style finish.
Finish: bittersweet, smooth and gently herbal.
Food Pairings
Pairs well with olives, salted almonds, manchego, charcuterie style nibbles, roasted red peppers, patatas bravas, hard cheeses, mushroom crostini or tomato based tapas. The bittersweet profile suits salty snacks and savoury small plates especially well.
Serving Suggestions
Serve well chilled over plenty of ice in a wine glass or short tumbler. It works nicely with soda for a lighter aperitif serve, or as the vermouth element in alcohol free versions of a Negroni or Americano with an alcohol free gin or bitter aperitif. An orange slice is a good fit if you want to lift the bittersweet profile.
