About Captain Morgan
Captain Morgan, one of the most iconic names in the world of spirits, is renowned for its distinctive spiced rum. The brand itself pays homage to the 17th-century Welsh privateer of the Caribbean, Sir Henry Morgan. Sir Henry Morgan, once a real-life pirate and later a respected admiral, is the spirited embodiment of the brand's adventurous and rebellious spirit.
In 1944, the Seagram Company started producing rum under the Captain Morgan name, drawing inspiration from the legendary privateer. Over time, Captain Morgan gained immense popularity, especially for its signature product, Captain Morgan Original Spiced Rum. The brand's growth caught the attention of global giants in the beverage industry.
As a result, in 2001, Diageo, one of the world's largest producers of spirits and beers, acquired Captain Morgan as part of its portfolio. Under Diageo's stewardship, Captain Morgan has expanded its offerings, venturing into different rum categories and even exploring alcohol-free versions, solidifying its place as a leading global rum brand.
