Pours deep brown to near black with a light tan head. Aroma brings dark chocolate, roast coffee, caramel, toasted malt and a touch of cocoa bitterness. On the palate, it is smooth and rounded with rich chocolate up front, followed by roasted coffee, soft caramel sweetness and a lingering layer of dark malt complexity. The finish is long, roasty and satisfying, with a gentle bitterness that keeps it balanced.

Try it with beef stew, sticky barbecue ribs, mature cheddar, mushroom burgers or chocolate brownies.

Serve lightly chilled rather than ice cold to let the darker flavours open up properly. Best poured into a stout glass or stemmed beer glass for a fuller aroma and softer mouthfeel. It suits slower evenings, cooler weather and any moment when a lager would feel a bit too light.
