"Like many revolutions, this one was born in a moment of anguish; confronted by the damaging effects of substance abuse in those around him, Karma set his course on a degree in Western Medicinal Herbalism with the intent of finding out which medicinal plants and herbs could be used in tandem with one another to recreate the pleasant sensations in the body that people turn to their favourite vices for. After much experimentation, the initial range of 4 elixirs was born. With a view to make these even more accessible, almost 2 years later the Sonder range debuted; 0% craft cocktails in can, high quality ingredients mixed with the much beloved elixirs to deliver the same sensation in a delicious new format."

"Before becoming a herbalist, Karma was a mixologist. This marriage of skills has proved perfect when approaching the flavour combinations found in the Sonder range. "We insist on using only high quality ingredients. For example, we are making use of organic honey instead of conventional sweeteners in the Smolder can to complement the organic ginger juice and alcohol free whiskey. But high quality ingredients often come with a price tag. The biggest challenge we have faced is keeping production costs as low as possible, and this has translated into a premium pour. Everything is craft, produced in small batches to ensure quality and consistency, and where possible, organic."

"Genuine functional drinks are the future (as we see it). Just sticking ashwagandha in a drink does not make it adaptogenic; you need to use what is known as a ‘medicinal dose’. As this space evolves, we hope to see more brands embracing this approach, dosing their creations appropriately to give the desired effect. It does mean a more expensive product, but is that not worth it for a product that actually does what the label says?"
