Hmm… alcohol free Ariel Chardonnay is a buttery butterscotch gift of a white wine from California’s renowned Napa Valley vineyards.

Tasting note

A tropical fruit character beside subtle oak from barrel ageing stand out in alcohol free Ariel Chardonnay. Then enjoy the distinctive combination of buttery apple and butterscotch flavours, combined with a toasty French oak bouquet. And this wine’s complexity will certainly develop as it ages.

Food pairing

Try alcohol free Ariel Chardonnay with a creamy carbonara, meaty shellfish like sautéed scallops, or simple crispy duck. For dessert, go for simple flavours such as vanilla and butterscotch. Try nice ice-cream flavours, with a nutty topping.

Pioneering vineyard

Ariel Vineyards pioneered dealcoholised wines in the USA. They struck gold at the 1986 Los Angeles County Fair, when their Ariel Blanc won a blind taste test competition against wines with alcohol.

And they’ve won loads of awards since.

Indeed, from Monterey County down to Paso Robles, Ariel benefits from the best fruits of owner J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines, which has 3,700 acres of sustainably farmed estate vineyards.

Solar powered alcohol free Ariel Chardonnay

Ariel wines are made in a solar-powered winery. Markedly, the three-acre photovoltaic solar tracking array on site is the largest of its kind in the American wine industry and it provides over 90 per cent of the winery’s annual energy.

Gentle process

Significantly, Ariel’s wines are aged in small oak barrels. Then all are fined and filtered according to traditional winemaking methods. Finally, more than 99.5% of the alcohol is removed through a gentle cold filtration process, which uses reverse osmosis (remember that from science lessons?). Chiefly, this allows alcohol to be removed, while retaining many of the qualities found in traditional wine.

Alcohol free Cabernet Sauvignon

Then again, why not try Ariel’s other superb wine too? This is an oak-aged alcohol free Cabernet Sauvignon that offers aromas of black currants, cherry, blueberries and chocolate. The Napa Valley, running north of San Francisco, is famous for producing prized Cabernet Sauvignons, and this wine is no exception.

About the Brand

Before ARIEL’s debut, dealcoholized wines were widely believed to lack the quality of traditional wines. But at the 1986 Los Angeles County Fair, ARIEL Blanc went up against wines with alcohol and was awarded the Gold Medal. Since that moment, ARIEL has gone on to earn critical acclaim and numerous awards in competitions throughout the world.
ARIEL began to see tremendous growth in the early 90’s when celebrity chef Graham Kerr, star of the hit television cooking show The Galloping Gourmet, took notice of ARIEL and called it “remarkable… a wine of our time, a light-hearted celebration and a gracious gift of hospitality.”
After a long and fruitful relationship with Graham Kerr, ARIEL continued to see success. In the mid 90’s, articles began to appear in popular magazines hailing the health benefits of red wine for its source of polyphenols—powerful antioxidants long-believed to promote heart health and weight loss when consumed in moderate quantities daily. ARIEL dealcoholized wines, also rich in polyphenols, became an ideal alternative for those who wanted to incorporate red wine into their diets for its health benefits, but did not desire to drink alcohol every day.
