DEFINING ALCOHOL-FREE VS. NON-ALCOHOLIC VS. LOW ALCOHOL (UK)

Today, the lines can be blurred between these different naming principles so we always recommend actively looking at the ABV content of your drink. The UK Government does issue guidance however, this is voluntary. 

ALCOHOL FREE CIDER

The UK Government guidance on 'alcohol-free' drinks generally contain 0.05% ABV, however, as Government guidance on this is voluntary, it can be up to 0.5%. 

LOW ALCOHOL CIDER

The UK Government guidance on low alcohol is that it should contain less than 1.2% ABV at its maximum but can of course also be lower. 

NON-ALCOHOLIC CIDER

There is no official Government guidance on the ABV that is referred to by non-alcoholic, however, commonly it is often used interchangeably with alcohol-free.
