The rise of mid-strength wine (and four Australian low-cost, low-alcohol drops to try)

The Australian wine industry is tapping into the wellness revolution by producing mid-strength wines, which are lower in alcohol content (6-8% ABV) and cater to the growing consumer interest in healthier living. Low-alcohol sales have been growing at a rate of 30% per annum over the past five years and are expected to reach around AUD 3 billion by 2026. Millennials, in particular, are leading the charge to reduce alcohol intake while still enjoying the social aspects of drinking wine. Lower alcohol wines are becoming popular due to their health benefits and their fresh, high-acid taste that suits the warm Australian climate. Some recommended mid-strength wines under AUD 30 include State of Light 2022 Sauvignon Blanc, T’Gallant Light & Fresh Brut Cuvée NV, Fin Wines' I’m All Ears Sparkling Prosecco, and Tempus Two Lighten Up Pinot Noir.
