The Doctors' Sauvignon Blanc 2021

Experience the vibrancy of Marlborough, New Zealand, with a glass of The Doctors' Sauvignon Blanc 2021. This innovative, lower-alcohol wine nearly leaps out of the glass, a testament to its exuberant character. Enjoy a symphony of flavours with notes of red capsicum, passionfruit, and fresh herbs, all culminating in a crisp, refreshing tropical finish.

At only 9.5% alcohol, this wine represents a delightful balance of full flavour and mindful drinking. This accomplishment is the result of our unique approach to viticulture, which involves slowing the grape plant's ability to produce sugar without compromising its ability to create flavour. No chemistry tricks or genetic wizardry involved - just sustainably grown, naturally produced lower alcohol wine.

Ranked as the #1 selling Premium lower alcohol Sauvignon Blanc in the UK, The Doctors' Sauvignon Blanc has a proven track record of delighting wine enthusiasts. The 2019 Vintage was awarded the Double Gold Medal at the Women Wine & Spirit 2020, a testament to its exceptional quality.

Curious to explore our range? You don't have to settle for just one. At DryDrinker, we offer 'Pick Your Own' mixed cases. Handpick a selection of different products to discover your new favourites without getting too much of one kind.

Tasting notes

Please note: This is a lower ABV product containing alcohol at 9.5%

From the moment it's poured, The Doctors' Sauvignon Blanc 2021 invites you in with an enticing aroma that nearly leaps from the glass. It greets the nose with a medley of vibrant scents, evoking images of red capsicum, passionfruit, and fresh herbs.

The palate is a delight, mirroring the nose with its full and satisfying flavour profile. Red capsicum and passionfruit make a strong showing, punctuated by undertones of fresh herbs. This ensemble of flavours is carried on a backbone of crisp, refreshing acidity that provides balance and lifts the fruit.

One of the defining features of this Sauvignon Blanc is its tropical Marlborough finish. It leaves the palate refreshed and ready for the next sip. Despite its depth and complexity of flavour, this wine is just 9.5% alcohol, making it a perfect choice for those seeking a lower-alcohol option without compromise.

Expert reviews also highlight the balance and quality of this Sauvignon Blanc. Richard Hemming of Jancisrobinson.com praises the "huge flavour concentration" and the balance of off-dry character to combat the high acidity. Meanwhile, Emma Jenkins MW lauds the "classic style in a lighter frame" and the successful capture of the "medley of methoxy and thiol elements of Marlborough sauvignon".

Food Pairings

The Doctors' Sauvignon Blanc 2021 is a wonderfully versatile wine that can be enjoyed on its own or paired with a variety of dishes. Here are a few suggestions to enhance your experience:

  • Light Starters: This Sauvignon Blanc pairs beautifully with a range of salads and seafood starters. Try it with a classic prawn cocktail or a fresh, crisp Caesar salad.
  • Seafood Main Courses: The zesty notes of the wine cut through the richness of fish like salmon or cod, enhancing their flavours. It's also a perfect match for shellfish like mussels or scallops.
  • Vegetarian Dishes: The herbaceous notes in the wine complement vegetable-based dishes wonderfully. Consider pairing it with a creamy risotto or a slice of tangy goat cheese and beetroot tart.
  • Cheese: The Doctors' Sauvignon Blanc is a fantastic companion to a variety of cheeses. It's particularly delightful with goat's cheese, feta, and other tangy, creamy cheeses.
  • Spicy Foods: The wine's tropical fruit profile and crisp finish can provide a refreshing counterpoint to spicy foods, such as dishes from Thai or Mexican cuisine.

Remember, these are just suggestions. The Doctors' Sauvignon Blanc is versatile enough to pair well with a wide range of foods, so feel free to experiment and find your own favourite combinations.

Serving Suggestions

Serving Tips

To fully enjoy The Doctors' Sauvignon Blanc 2021, keep in mind the following serving tips:

  • Chill Before Serving: Sauvignon Blanc is best enjoyed when chilled. Aim to serve this wine at a temperature between 8°C to 10°C.
  • Choose the Right Glass: For the best experience, serve Sauvignon Blanc in a white wine glass. The narrower opening of this type of glass (compared to a red wine glass) delivers more of the wine's aroma directly to your nose, enhancing its fruity and herbaceous notes.
  • Open Just Before Serving: Unlike some red wines, Sauvignon Blanc does not need to breathe before serving. In fact, to preserve its fresh and zesty characteristics, it's best to open the bottle just before you're ready to serve it.
  • Food Pairing: While this wine is delightful on its own, it can also enhance a meal. Check our food pairing suggestions above to find a combination that tantalises your taste buds.
